Our First Grade Waiheʻe Field trip. So much fun and awesome learning!!
Thank you to all the parent volunteers that made it such a success.
120th Day of School. We made necklaces out by counting out 12 groups of 10 with Fruit Loops.
So much fun on our field trip to Can Do Day at the MACC. We do drama, art and dancing about animals and patterns we see in nature.
The students were so enthralled and entertained watching Vicki White the Science Lady do cool and educational science experiments.
We celebrated Chinese New Years with a traditional Lion Dance outside as a whole school and educational activities in the classroom. Students loved feeding the Lion with their Lai See.
Here we are learning about photosynthesis, studying leaves, plants, chlorophyll, and all about the plant cycle. We did a leaf rubbing art project, contoured drew leaves and learned about the plant life cycle process. We love to do hands on learning!!!
We watched a the play Pupuleʻs planet of peril. It had a great message about global warming. It was really funny and informative.
We had a fun day of Pumpkin Science and Math. We counted seeds, ribs, we made predictions if the pumpkins would float or sink and we had spooky snacks.
We learned about the different parts of the Kalo plant today. We drew, labeled and learned their function. We put it into our science journal. We then went into the garden and planted our own Kalo plant. We will take care of it and malama it.
We had Garden with Ms. Atay. It was fun and educational. We toured the garden and learned how we will take care of it.
P.E. is sooooo fun!!! This week we played a game called Minnows vs. Sharks. There was a lot of sweating and running.
A first grade standard for science is Living and Non-Living. So we got together with our buddies and examined Live worms and Gummy worms. We went out to the garden to collect the live worms and see their natural habitat, we then brought them back to the classroom to look at them more closely. We recorded the differences between the two. We also compared the similarities. This was a fun and exciting way to learn about Living and Non-living things.
